The Israeli Society for Science Fiction and Fantasy was established in May 1996 with the aim of promoting and supporting the fields of science fiction and fantasy in Israel. The society has remained continuously active since its founding. Its activities have included conventions, lectures on fantasy, science fiction, and general science topics, premiere screenings of science fiction and fantasy films, story-writing contests, and more. The society publishes an annual collection of original speculative fiction titled “Once Upon a Future,” as well as an online magazine that features a Hebrew section on this website. Both publications are produced in Hebrew. As a non-profit organization, all activities and management are conducted entirely by volunteers.
